Rating
A Cost 2 (1 upgraded) skill granting 1 Energy per Attack in hand when played. With an Attack-heavy hand, returns can exceed its own cost. Upgraded at Cost 1, even 2 Attacks in hand produce net-positive Energy. Especially strong in Attack-focused decks — played on a full hand, it provides explosive Energy. On a hand with no Attacks, it simply burns cost, so read the board. Post-draw is the iron rule for timing.
How to Use
Set up by drawing Attacks in bulk with Battle Trance (mass draw) or Pillage (keeps drawing until non-Attack). Playing it with 4-5 Attacks in hand returns 3-4+ Energy for 1-2 cost. Always count Attacks in hand before playing. When Attacks are few, skipping and prioritizing other cards is correct. Pairing with Trample (cost drops by Attack count) is strong — secure Energy via Battle Instincts, then fire a cheap Trample.
Synergies / Deck Types
- Battle Trance: 0-cost mass draw skill. Refill hand, then play Battle Instincts when Attacks are dense.
- Pillage: Keep drawing until a non-Attack appears. Gathers Attacks to maximize Battle Instincts' return.
- Trample: AoE with cost-by-attack-count reduction. Secure Energy with Battle Instincts, then fire Trample at max efficiency.
- Whirlwind: X-cost AoE. Pour all Energy gained from Battle Instincts into X for maximum damage.
- Anger: 0-cost Attack. Raises Attack density in the deck to boost Battle Instincts' returns.
